Hi!  My name is Kiana and I'm thirteen years old.  I have been performing with Encore since I was eleven years old;  and I have LOVED every single show.  I have currently performed (and performing!) in 7 shows on cast (Snow White, Dracula, Hansel and Gretel, Velveteen Rabbit, Brothers Grimm: Out of Order, Wizard of Oz, Robin Hood) and 3 on crew (Anything Goes, Best Haunted House Ever, Wizard of Oz).  Whether it's cast or crew, I will be auditioning for a long time to come!

Encore Stage & Studio has been showing kids and teens the magic of theater for many many years now.  They also offer lots of camps and workshops for kids of all ages.  We have recieved lots of positive feedback from the camps, workshops, and performances.  Although Encore is great, we would love a little support to make every show better and better.  The cost of each show is quite high and with your support, we can use it for important things like the sets and costumes.  Here are all the things I love about Encore and some information about upcoming shows (the list is long, so get ready...)

Encore is a great place to meet new friends! Whether they are younger or older than you, it's impossible not to make friends!  Encore has started having "reunions", so if you've been in a show, you can see the cast and crew again.

The staff is very professional.  You will be learning from the best!  Their tips and critique help me learn and grow as an actor.  They are extremely helpful and are very encouraging and motivating.  Every show I'm in I learn something.

Being on the technical crew for two shows has taught me a lot about the different jobs that go on backstage while the actors are performing.  Before I was on crew, I would always stare at the set and think, "Wow, how did they do that?!"  It's amazing to think kids my age could build something like that.  It is also important to know what is going on backstage, not just what's going on onstage.  The tech crew has a lot of pressure on them because they are doing all the lights, spotlights, sound cues, putting the props where they are supposed to go, doing special effects, and assistant stage managing stage left and stage right.

There are lots of kids out there who want to try out theater, either as a hobby or a lifelong career.  Some are worried that without an experience, they will never get in a show.  No need to worry!  Encore Stage and Studio always invites new kids to audition, and, soon enough, you will see your resume has grown to three pages long!  It's hard to tell what life would be like if I hadn't first auditioned for Encore...but I sure am glad I did!

Auditioning:  To audition for a Children's Theater show, you must be at least nine years old.  To be on the techincal crew(which is just as much fun as being on cast) you must be at least twelve years old.  Every year there is an Act III show in the summer. you must be at least fifteen to audition for cast on that.

Remember the earthquake over the summer?  Unfortunately, it had damaged the Thomas Jefferson theatre, where Encore performs its productions.  Our second option, Gunston (where Anything Goes was), is booked.  But luckily, we found a place at the Spectrum Theatre in Rosslyn!  The show dates have been postponed to the next week and the times are different than last year.  Opening night for Robin Hood is already sold out, so buy your tickets fast!

REMEMBER:  Encore has pre-audition workshops, so if you if you want to know what to expect at auditions and how to improve your auditioning skills, please apply!  For more information, go to www.encorestage.org.

We would really appreciate it if you could donate some money to Encore.  We have been performing for......a lot of years and want to continue for lots of years more!!!!  To donate, click the button on the right side of this page -->

Thank you very much!!!!!  :)
