The Ridley Decade Giving Challenge is a vehicle for alumni, friends and family to fulfill philanthropic desires and passions while supporting Ridley's mission. Your peers that make up the Ridley's volunteer Board of Directors are appealing to your competitive spirit, by requesting participation of all UVA alumni to support our scholarship fundraising efforts leading up to one of the University's most celebrated bi-annual reunions, Black Alumni Weekend 2011.

Will your decade have the largest alumni participation?
Can your decade raise the most scholarship dollars?

The Decade Giving Challenge is a viral campaign. The goal: each decade, ('50s/'60s/'70s), 80s, 90s, and '00s/'10s, will compete for the most dollars raised toward the $250,000 goal (which is one fully endowed, four-year scholarship based on in-state tuition and fees) and the greatest percentage of participation. All decades will be recognized for their fund raising efforts; however, the decades responsible for raising the largest dollar amount and with the largest percentage of alumni participation will be celebrated during BAW 2011.

Gifts toward the Ridley Decade Giving Challenge are 100% tax deductable. Moreover, your gift will be counted toward the University's $5M Capital Campaign and if your graduation year ends in a "1" or "6" your contribution can count as a part of your Reunion year class gift.

Help us celebrate the historic moments in black history at the University that started with Dr. Walter N. Ridley, by creating a new historic moment. Consider your level of contribution today and as The Ridley Decade Giving Challenge kicks-off; please join the challenge and engage other alumni to join the friendly fundraising competition that supports Dr. Ridley's legacy.

We hope we can count on your support.

Sincerely,

Sharon Ann Miller
Ridley Chair
