The BGSU Mock Trial team, along with 700 other Intercollegiate Mock Trial teams began practicing last September in preparation for the Regionals Competition in February.   We just returned from our Regional at the University of Notre Dame.  Our Regional contains most of the teams from Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, with an occasional Illinois team included some years. At the Regional competition, we defeated the 2009 National Champion Mock Trial team, and defeated them soundly.  In addition, the Regional Tournament gave special awards to 22 students, half to witnesses and half to attorneys.  Out of all the teams in Michigan, Ohio, and Indiana that were there, BG’s team received 7 of the awards, an unheard of proportion. We did so well at Regionals we will be participating in the National Championships Competition in Chicago later this month. We need your help!!! The cost of the trip including registration, hotel and travel will be close to $3000.  Please consider supporting this year's Mock Trial Team. A Gift of $100 will provide the registration cost of one participant. A Gift of $80 will provide for transportation costs of one student to the National Competition. Although many Maryland stations support local musicians, WTMD creates a radio community in which local music thrives. WTMD is truly the best radio station in Maryland.  In today's radio world, there are not many opportunities for a musician, like myself, to receive air play without major label affiliations. Every time WTMD plays local music, they take a risk. They need our financial support as they continue to support and recognize local music. As I can attest, the station has contributed significantly to the success of local musicians. WTMD was the first station to begin playing my new self titled EP. Within the course of a few short weeks, my songs were playing multiple times a week, granting me with a new following of listeners. Soon my local shows were frequented by WTMD listeners, who discovered my music on segments like Baltimore Unsigned. In order for local music to survive and thrive, listeners need to directly support the station.  Music at WTMD is a community effort. Local musicians, and listeners are all responsible for ensuring that it continues. WTMD is supported by its listeners. There are no commercials to interrupt the music. In these economic times we all need a little help from our friends.  The Sac Phil is no exception.  Ticket sales cover only 35% of the costs for our concerts, educational programs and free concerts for families.  Two-thirds of the orchestra’s budget comes from grants, special events and donations, from our friends like you. You can play your part in making great music possible!  Your support brings music to the concert hall, to special events, to schools and to hospitals!  Everybody deserves great music.  Think of each dollar of your donation as a note in a concerto, a string on a cello or a life touched by the gift of music.
