$22.00Hello! I joined the National Society of Collegiate Scholars (NSCS) in the Fall of 2006 as a sophomore at Winona State University (WSU). Although I didn't fully understand what an honor society was, or the benefits or experiences involved, it sounded like a great opportunity and a great way to become more involved on campus. It was one of the best decisions I made while at WSU. I have had many amazing experiences with NSCS. I was President of our WSU Chapter of NSCS and was invited to present at the 2008 NSCS Leadership Summit and Convention in Orlando, FL about one of our programs at WSU. Also, I was awarded the 2009 NSCS-GEICO Graduate Scholarship to help finance and support my graduate school education. I am currently a graduate student at Illinois State University (ISU) and am studying Clinical-Counseling Psychology. Although I am no longer part of WSU's NSCS Chapter, I was nominated to join NSCS' Alumni Advisory Board in order to evaluate and develop new ways NSCS alumni (specifically, post-undergraduate education) can continue to reap the benefits of NSCS membership (it is a LIFETIME membership). The NSCS scholarship fund helps a large number of members afford tuition, study abroad programs, books, graduate school and other expenses. I've seen this ogranization change lives, including my own, and want to help even more students get these opportunities. As of right now, NSCS gives the most scholarship dollars of any undergraduate honor society--more than $250,000. I want to play a role in helping this fund grow and changing the lives of college students from our chapters at more than 250 schools in all 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico! Please consider making a donation - in any amount - to help support this cause! :)
