President David Boren initiated the Sooner Heritage Scholarship program in 2003 to provide additional scholarship opportunities for our students and to help make sure, in the face of necessary increases in tuition and fees, that attending OU remains within reach of deserving students.
Any student is eligible to apply for a Sooner Heritage Scholarship, but preference is given to students with special financial needs and circumstances and to those whose family incomes are in the $30,000 to $75,000 range. The scholarships are especially important for students from middle-income families who don’t qualify for federal and state grants, but who need help with the increased costs. The greatest need is for unrestricted scholarships that will benefit students in all majors at OU.
Donors who contribute $500 to the campaign will have a scholarship awarded in their name. Donors of $10,000 or more can create a named Sooner Heritage Scholarship endowment.
For some years now, I’ve made a gift to support Sooner Heritage Scholarships, a NEED-BASED award for a student needing a financial boost. I received a similar scholarship when I went to college and it helped pay for my books each semester. Whether you are an OU grad or not, I hope you’ll join me in giving by clicking the DONATE button. Please also forward this to everyone you know. Even a donation of $5 per person can help out a student. Together we can make a big difference in a student's lfie!
Thank you for your time!
